ICOFEP 2018

On 19-20 April 2018, the second edition of the international conference ICOFEP (International Conference on Finance and Economic Policy) organized by the Faculty of Economics of the PUEB took place in the walls of our university. The main topic of this edition, entitled Limits to Economic Growth, was broadly understood – economic, sociological, political or cultural – limits to economic growth. The conference was attended by nearly 70 participants, among others from Italy, France, Spain, Hungary, Croatia and Poland. During the conference 40 presentations were given and 6 posters were presented.

The key note speakers of the conference were prof. Oliver Damette from Lorraine University, who gave the lecture Climate change as a limit to the economic growth: the El Nino case, and prof. Bogusław Fiedor from the University of Economics in Wroclaw, who presented the lecture entitled From the regulative state towards the active pro-growth state policy. As part of this year’s ICOFEP edition, was also the seminar on financialization led by prof. Giuseppe Fontana from Leeds University, as well as workshops for students, organized by Concordia Ubezpieczenia.

The Best Paper Award for the best paper presented at the conference was given to Akos Dombi, Eötvös Loránd UniversityKatarzyna Szarzec and Piotr Matuszak, UEP, for the study entitled State-owned enterprises in Europe: New data, new results.
